What is this app for? — "Leben in Deutschland" (LiD) helps you prepare for the official "Leben in Deutschland" test and the German citizenship test. It contains all 460 questions from the public catalogue.

Are the questions and answers official? — The questions come from the publicly available catalogue published by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF). The app itself is an unofficial study tool and is not affiliated with BAMF or the Federal Agency for Civic Education (bpb).

Why do I only see 33 questions in a test? — The real test has 33 questions: 30 general questions plus 3 questions for your federal state. You have 60 minutes to complete it. You pass the citizenship test with 17 out of 33, and the "Leben in Deutschland" variant with 15 out of 33.

How do I change my federal state or language? — Open the gear icon in the top-right ("Settings"). The state-specific questions in study mode and tests update automatically.

Is my study data sent to a server? — No. Flagged questions, test history, and settings are stored only on your device. See the Privacy Policy for details.

How do I clear my test history? — In Settings under "Data" → "Clear history".

Question translations are produced with machine assistance and reviewed afterwards. Only the original German version of the BAMF catalogue is authoritative for the actual test.
